Clinical Canine Massage Therapy, Guernsey

about

Megan Burns specialises in treating dogs through Clinical Canine Massage. This is a non-invasive effective therapy used to help manage orthopaedic conditions, rehabilitate soft tissue injuries, help to support and aid recovery after surgery, as well as maintain sporting and performance dogs.

In doing so, canine massage therapy helps to maintain and improve mobility, comfort, and activity levels in dogs of all ages. It may also help to prevent injuries and can support dogs experiencing anxiety, nervous behaviours or depression.

It involves a blend of over 60 techniques and four disciplines including Swedish, deep tissue, sports massage, myofascial release, as well as the Lenton Method®.

Typically, this therapy produces noticeable results within one to three treatments. Clinical trials conducted by Winchester University found that, in a study of 527 dogs, 95% of dogs showed a positive response to treatment. Please read the full report here.

Based in Guernsey, I am the only Clinical Canine Massage Therapist in the Channel Islands.

I hold the Diploma in Clinical Canine Massage Therapy, was trained by Canine Massage Therapy Centre, and am a registered member of the Canine Massage Guild.

I am also a dog sports trainer for agility and hoopers, with over 15 years of experience.

In my spare time, I train and compete in both dog agility and hoopers – and spending time with my two border collies.

My elderly Shetland Sheepdog has benefitted greatly from regular massage treatments with Megan. The sessions have helped keep him comfortable, active and have improved his fluidity of movement. He enjoys his treatments with Megan, and is very relaxed. They have built a lovely bond.

I would highly recommend Megan and canine massage therapy to any owner considering it for their dog.
